After Russia and after China we finally made it to the destination that started the whole thing. Nepal was the place we wanted to visit from the start - to trek in the Annapurna region. First we hit Chitwan National Park before heading to Pokhara for our trek. Nepal did not disappoint.
Here we are for part 3! China. What a crazy, wonderful country. We had our ups and we had our downs... but this place was really surreal. I mean look at that. Hot damn - I was on the great wall of China. Weird.
Let's let the pictures do the talking. :)
Living on the coast can yield some awesome photo opportunities. This is a new fav for me!
September! You fool. How did you come around so quick? I'm behind. VERY behind. It was a year ago that I was leaving Toronto and heading for Russia... How has this happened?
Nevermind. This is part 2 of the best trip. Mongolia. A place I have wanted to visit for years... and a place that absolutely floored me - in good ways and bad. I may have almost been thrown from a wild Mongolian horse but these things happen.
I would love to see this place over a longer period of time. There is such a vast emptiness - it is such a refreshing landscape. And the weather! Mid twenties one day - 5 inches of snow the next morning.
Mongolia, you old so n' so. Let's meet again.
In my three years of living in Sydney, I have tried to establish some traditions. Some come naturally, others I enforce whole-heartedly even when they are met with resistance... Like carving pumpkins at Halloween. Yes, thank you Woolies for only stocking 9 crappy pumpkins in the month of October. You suck.
But I digress...
Other traditions just happen, pieces just fall into place. Like the Winter Wine Fesitval. Sean and I were invited down for the first time when I had just arrived and we've been back every year. The attendance has grown substantially... and somewhere along the way we all began dressing up like fools. (Super-awesome fools) And then this year it turned out that it would just be easier and more economical if we hired our our mini-bus to tote us around to each Winery. No complaints here.
However, there is one winery that sticks out every year as the best, Two Figs, and this is in part because of the most excellent entertainment they have - The Hot Potato Band.
Anyway, here are some favs from the weekend. :) Enjoy!
Sweet, right? :)
It's been about six months since I returned from my big trip. It was a four month backpacking trip around Asia and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since I got back. This is partly because I am still working through the thousands of images... editing them, city by city, day by day. Hot damn, it's taking longer than I thought. I just haven't been able to to find the time - but in a way, it's the best. It means I get to re-live that trip over and over and over - every time I flick through those images.
I'm only about halfway through, but here are some of my favs from the Russian portion. Expect more from each country as I sift through them all.
(also please excuse my old watermark on these images.)
So that last post was just a test! But you've probably figured that out. I'm taking ages and ages to get this site up and running, but I suppose in the mean time I should just post a couple things... that way there is some sweet content when people like you started visiting. :)
If you build it... they will come.
This past couple weeks has been slow on the photography front for me, which is odd considering I've just added a sweet new lens to my kit! I haven't had too much free time to take it out for a spin, but I thought I would share a couple snaps from the sunset last night at Dee Why beach.
Looking pretty sweet Dee Why.
